Our work forms the backbone of the nation's growth, and we are seeking an experienced and authoritative Site Manager to be our on-the-ground leader, ensuring our design vision is executed to the highest standards.

Position Summary

The Site Manager is the principal on-site representative for our consultancy, responsible for the comprehensive supervision and administration of construction projects. You will act as the crucial link between the design office, the client, and the construction contractor. Your primary objective will be to ensure that the project is constructed in strict accordance with the approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards, all while maintaining project timelines and budget adherence. This is a senior role requiring strong leadership, technical expertise, and impeccable judgment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Construction Supervision & Quality Assurance:
    • Provide full-time, on-site supervision of the contractor's activities to ensure strict compliance with project specifications, design drawings, and contract documents.
    • Conduct regular inspections of workmanship, materials, and installations to identify and rectify any deviations or defects.
    • Oversee and witness material testing, both on-site and in third-party laboratories, and review test results to ensure compliance.
    • Maintain a rigorous quality control and quality assurance (QA/QC) regime throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Contract Administration & Project Management:
    • Monitor the contractor's progress against the approved construction schedule, identifying potential delays and proposing mitigation strategies.
    • Review, verify, and certify the contractor's monthly payment applications (interim bills).
    • Manage and process Requests for Information (RFIs), change orders, and variation proposals in coordination with the head office design team.
    • Maintain meticulous site records, including a daily diary, progress photos, inspection reports, and correspondence.

  • Technical Coordination & Problem-Solving:
    • Interpret technical drawings and specifications to guide the contractor and resolve any on-site ambiguities.
    • Proactively identify potential construction issues and provide timely, effective solutions in consultation with the Project Director/Manager.
    • Chair and document regular site progress meetings with the contractor and other stakeholders.
  • Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Compliance:
    • Vigorously monitor the contractor's adherence to the project's HSE plan and local safety regulations.
    • Promote a strong safety culture on-site and report any unsafe acts or conditions immediately.
    • Ensure all environmental compliance measures stipulated in the contract are being followed.

  • Stakeholder Communication:
    • Act as the primary point of contact on-site for the client, contractor, and sub-contractors.
    • Prepare and submit regular, detailed progress reports to the client and the head office.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: A minimum of a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from a reputable university is required.
  • Experience: At least 10-15 years of professional experience in the civil engineering field, with a minimum of 8 years in a direct construction supervision or site management role for a consultancy firm.
  • Project Expertise: Demonstrable experience managing large-scale projects such as high-rise commercial/residential buildings, industrial structures, flyovers, or water/wastewater treatment plants.

  • Technical Skills:
    • In-depth knowledge of construction materials, methods, and equipment.
    • Thorough understanding of reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings and specifications.
    • Strong familiarity with contract administration, preferably with experience using FIDIC or similar standard contract forms.
    • Proficiency in reviewing construction schedules (MS Project or Primavera P6).

    • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with fluency in both Bengali and English.
